Social media shares down ahead of Facebook IPO

Facebooks IPO may be the markets focus this week, but other social media companies are getting caught up in the mania.

Investors bought up shares of other social media-related companies early in the week, betting the sector would get a boost from one of the most anticipated public offerings ever. But that enthusiasm faded just before Facebooks expected Friday debut: Investors started selling off shares of Groupon Inc., Pandora Media Inc., LinkedIn Corp. and Yelp Inc. on Thursday.

Stern Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia said investors may have gotten the gains they hoped for and now are cashing out. In some cases, they may be freeing up their money to invest in Facebook.

Summer art blockbuster announced

A French artist who spurned high society in favour of brothels, barflies and dancing girls will be celebrated by the National Gallery of Australia (NGA) in its major summer show.

The gallery in Canberra is expecting big visitor numbers to attend Toulouse-Lautrec: Paris amp; the Moulin Rouge.

The show will feature 120 paintings, posters and drawings borrowed from 35 international collections including New Yorks Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Musee dOrsay in Paris and the Tate in London.

The NGA appears to have acquired a taste for all things French, in its drive to boost visitor numbers.

Berea’s Art Walk is Saturday, May 19

BEREA — Resident Heidi Albert encourages the community to visit Saturdays Front amp; Center Art Walk in downtown Berea.

Albert not only has an art studio in town, but she will play the cello at the Art Walk.
